I was lucky enough to get to film Kate & Tom’s day. I have so, so much love for this wedding, I wouldn’t even know where to start explaining why! Gate Street Barn is a beautiful, intimate wedding venue, with cows roaming around in the fields behind. Everyone there was on such a high, the whole day just seemed to be stuffed with love and smiles. Example – Kate & Tom step out of the church as a newly wed couple, within 2 second the heavens open and start drenching everyone! Was anyone phased? Nup. Did it put a downer on the day? Somehow it seemed to make it even better!
Kate is a singer/dancer in the West End production of Chicago, so naturally, has a whole bunch of extremely talented friends, a few of which sang on the day. Amazing. Nothing completes a reception like live music performed by the guests!
They also mixed up their wedding breakfast by getting the guests to play chef. Jay and I were called into the room as one lucky guest from each table disappeared into the kitchen and returned fully clad in chef dress and holding a rack of lamb each. Now I’ve been to a lot of weddings, and I’ve never seen this twist. I thought it was brilliant. The perfect icebreaker on any table, and while guests may not be getting a perfectly carved piece of meat, they definitely get a good laugh.
To top it off I got to work again with the extremely talented and lovely Jay Rowden. I’d filmed with him before at Francesca & Matt’s wedding in Claridges and was really looking forward to working with him again.
Well that’s enough chat… here are their wedding highlights – enjoy!
