Cyprus Wedding Video – Old friends & New
I worked with Mark Bothwell recently at a Mirror Mirror Bridal Couture shoot at St. Pancras Rennaisance hotel. This shoot was my first time meeting Mark, but Ben had the pleasure back in September, when they teamed up to capture Maria & Paul’s Cyprus Wedding Video at The Anassa. I was told by Mark, if it wasn’t for him, Ben wouldn’t have made his flight home- I guess then, that Maria & Paul’s wedding was pretty fun. Though I’d have expected nothing less from a bride who heard our friend James Castle DJ-ing in a club in Shoreditch, and demanded he do their wedding, good taste in DJs bodes well for an incredible party!!
So it was James Castle who got Ben this gig, and Mark Bothwell who got him back home – thank you to both of you!! And what a frickin gig. I’ve a tonne of bitterness about missing this one (though I did enjoy my Cotswolds wedding that I was left behind to film 🙂 so I’ll be keeping my fingers tightly crossed for a repeat booking at this hotel.
The Anassa is spectacular – views over the Mediterranean, infinity pools, clean, modern, elegant decor, beautiful rooms, it’s impossible to fault. No surprise then that it was voted one of the best family hotels in the world by Condé Nast.
Maria & Paul had a Greek Orthodox ceremony, which is great for a wedding film – giving great audio and shots of orthodox traditions. The speeches were fantastic, the best man speech especially, with a quote from Shakespeare and a beautifully phrased thank you to Maria & Paul:
“Shakespeare wrote that ‘love is an ever-fixèd mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; it is the star to every wandering bark, whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken’, and I can’t think of a better description of the commitment and love I know Paul & Maria share. For everything Paul has done to improve my life, I thank him, and for everything that Maria has improved in his, we all thank her.”
